Unemployment fund

The Public and Welfare Sectors’ Unemployment Fund has some180,000 members. It is the largest industry-specific unemployment fund in Finland.

The unemployment fund offers its members a range of modern services and membership benefits, online document management and flexible payment of benefits. It employs close to 60 unemployment security professionals.

The unemployment fund office is located in Helsinki in the premises of Finland’s largest trade union, the Trade Union for the Public and Welfare Sectors JHL. The head of the fund is Pasi Koskinen.

The membership fee is 0.28 per cent of a member’s taxable earned income.

The fund serves its members in all matters concerning unemployment and unemployment security.

The fund offers its members the following benefits:
• earnings-related unemployment allowance for periods of unemployment and during the services offered by TE-offices
• job alternation allowance for periods of job alternation leave.

Last year the Public and Welfare Sectors’ Unemployment Fund provided various benefits for approximately 33,000 members. A total of 27,500 of them received earnings-related unemployment allowance, 2,700 training subsidy and training allowance, and 3,000 job alternation allowance.
